Local loans to repair damage from Irene and Lee

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) – State officials say Binghamton and 12 other communities will receive interest-free loans to repair to sewer and water systems damaged by tropical storms Irene and Lee.

The New York State Environmental Facilities Corporation says Binghamton will receive an $850,000 loan to repair its storm and waste water system and its water filtration plant. The nearby Town of Owego will get a $1 million loan and the Village of Owego will receive a $500,000 loan.

Other municipalities receiving $1million loans are Endicott (Broome County), Jay (Essex County), Black Brook (Clinton County), Cornwall (Orange County), Lloyd (Ulster County), Schoharie (Schoharie County), Granville (Washington County) and Ellenville (Ulster County).

The Village of Monticello (Sullivan County) will receive a $690,000 loan and the Town of Keene (Essex
County) will receive a $239,950 loan.
